Morphological Structure of Annelids Sample

Morphological Structure of Annelids Paper The nervous system includes a pair of cephalic ganglia attached to double nerve cords that run the length to the animal along the ventral body wall, with ganglia and branches in each segment. Annelids have some combination of tactile organs, competitors, balance receptors, and photoreceptors: some forms have fairly well developed eyes, including lenses. The annelids number more than 13,000 species distributed among three classes: the marine worm (Polyphosphate), which are divided into free moving and sedentary or tube-dwelling forms; the earthworms (Oligocene); and the leeches, (Hernia). Polyphosphate can be found in the intestinal zone up to -?5000 meters of the ocean depth. Oligocene and Hardliner can be found in land. Objectives I. TO introduce student With the morphological Structure Of Annelids 2. TO introduce a technique to isolate Annelids worm from sediments 3. To draw the important structures of this group for identification using compound microscope. Apparatus ; Stereo microscope ; Compound microscope ; Petri dish ; Forceps ; Annelids samples Methods 1. Extracted samples which contain Polyphosphate, Oligocene, and Hardliner were taken. The samples were washed with water and transferred into a Petri dish, 2, The samples were differentiated into Polyphosphate, Oligocene, and Hardliner group. 3. The samples oeuvre viewed under the compound microscope and the structure of Polyphosphate, Oligocene, and Hardliner ever drawn. 4. For Polyphosphate, the Structures that has been stressed on for identification was paranoia, promethium, peritoneum, peristalsis cirri, antenna, pal, eyes, and types Of setae. S. For Oligocene, the Structures that has been stressed on for identification was promethium, mouth, setae, spermatophyte, xenophobe, sperm Nell, cellulite and tubercle. . The above Structures were drawn and the functions of each structure were explained in discussion. Discussion Every each to organisms has their own structures and every structure have its own function, As annelids are small organisms, all the structure need to observe under the compound microscope. Some tooth structure could not be observed as it is interna l structure of the annelids, The observation of the annelids was done for the external structure only. Table 1. 1 below shows the results and the structure that can be observed in annelid samples provided. Table 1. 1 Polyphosphates have paranoia, fleshy, beadlike lobes on each segment. Paranoia are attention in locomotion and gas exchange. Setae are located on the paranoia. Setae in annelids are bristle or hair like structures found in living organisms. They help in balancing of some living organisms like earthworms not to backslide, It often functions like a kind of overlie when the animal is feeding. The shape and composition of promethium are important for annelid systematic. The anterior end has a mouth opening. Covered by a lobe termed promethium. The posterior segment bears the anus. The first section behind the promethium, called the peritoneum (Greek meaning around and rope meaning mouth), is regarded by some zoologists as not a true segment, but in some polyphosphates the peritoneum has cheetah and appendages like those of other segments. Peristalsis cirri are paired, elongated cirri on the peritoneum. Several fused segments compose that region, which is confirmed by the presence f several fused ganglia along the ventral nerve cord. Anterior locomotors appendages: the pair Of head appendages located ventilators on the peritoneum. These aids in locomotion, fixation on the host, and feeding. They are retractile, and are also known as anterior limbs. Factual Rouse (1997) has cited in Titian Machine Steiner; A. Cecilia Z. Amoral: The family Histrionically (Annelid, Polyphosphate) including descriptions of two new species from Brazil and a new genus- termed them peristalsis cirri because they are located on the peritoneum. Other families of Annunciated order have the peristalsis cirri coated dorsally and posterior on the peritoneum. A pair of pals which are differentiated into two units, the distal unit of which is substantial even though it is smaller than the proximal unit. Pals and antennae are located on the head to many polyphosphates. In some groups they are both sensory while in others the pals are used for feeding. A spermatophyte function in annelids is to receive and store sperm from the male or, in the case of hermaphrodites, the male component of the body, and can sometimes be the site of fertilization when the octets are sufficiently develop. The conducts (oviduct/vagina and sperm duct) usually open via a common opening, with the ducts leading into a hemispherical chamber called the genital atrium which opens to the outside via the snooper. The snooper is at one side of the proctologist, either central or toward one end. A sphincter muscle can open or close the snooper. The snooper Of each proctologist may all occur on the same side of the worm, as in our piece of worm drawn above, or they may be on both sides in an irregular and random fashion. (Though each proctologist only has one snooper on either did). In some species, there is a double system with each proctologist having NON snoopers, one on each side. The sperm funnel, Which consists Of a ciliated epithelium bounded by a flattened peritoneum, is characterized by a halo of vertically orientated spermatozoa. The spermatozoa nuclei terminate within the culinary zone of the funnel but junction attachments been sperm and cilia have not been observed. A tubercle is knob. Like protuberance, often referring to a large (macromolecule) or small (micrometeorite) projection on the Elton of some annelids. The cellulite is part of the reproductive system of classmates, a subgroup of annelids which contains lighthouses (earthworms) and hardiness (leeches). The cellulite is a thick, saddle-like, ring found in the epidermis (skin) of the worm, usually with a light-colored pigment. To form a cocoon for its eggs, the cellulite secretes a viscous fluid. This organ is used in sexual reproduction of some annelids. The cellulite becomes apparent in mature annelids, but may be hard to locate visually in younger annelids. In leeches, it appears seasonally. Its lour is usually slightly lighter than that of the body of the annelid, Occasionally, living segments of the worm will be shed with the cellulite. Cellulite produces a slime tube that slides forward toward the anterior segments As it passes along, it receives deposits of eggs and sperm from another individual that has been stored in the seminal receptacles, Fertilization occurs within the mucous cocoon, which is then deposited in the soil. Comparison of theories Thomas Hobbes and John Locke essay

Comparison of theories Thomas Hobbes and John Locke essay Comparison of theories Thomas Hobbes and John Locke essay Comparison of theories Thomas Hobbes and John Locke essayThe two English philosophers of the seventeenth century, Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, whose writings greatly influenced the Framers of the U.S Constitution contributed to the development of constitutional democracy in the United States. Comparing their theories, it is possible to find some similarities in their views. Both Thomas Hobbes and John Locke considered that â€Å"people have the capacity to form their own governments† (Judd, 2011, p. 13). Both of them questioned traditional authority. For example, Hobbes reflected these ideas in his theory highlighting the role of unalienable rights that should never be transferred to political authority. Locke states that â€Å"political resistance is a legitimate act† (Judd, 2011, p. 13). Both Hobbes and Locker understood that most people wanted to live in peace and to feel secured. Hobbes model of the development of ideal society was based on freedom for all people o btained through human interactions (Rosenberg, 2010). His concept of social contract was used by the Framers of the U.S Constitution. Locke’s theory highlighted the idea of individual rights in relation to the state. His idea of the protection of individual rights was reflected in the U.S. Constitution. However, for Locke, individual rights were more important than state power, while for Hobbes, it was crucial to defend king’s rights. Actually, each of the theorists has impacted the establishment of the American system of government. The ideas of both Hobbes and Locke were used to establish effective governance and authority and to address the needs of people. The idea of social contract promoted by Hobbes became a rationale for the development and implementation of governmental policies. Locke’s ideas were taken into consideration by the Framers of the U.S Constitution in developing the separation of powers system. The fundamental ideals of these theorists cont ributed to the promotion of democratization.

Evaluation Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Evaluation - Case Study Example Evaluation techniques are classified into two major classes which include the predictive evaluation techniques and descriptive evaluation techniques (Perlis, et al., 1981). The process of evaluation is goal oriented. The goals for which an evaluation process is intended for defines the importance of the evaluation process. One among the goals of evaluation is to determine if the technique is better as compared to existing techniques. This process entails the comparison of the technique with other existing techniques with aims of determining the status of the technique (Clements, 2002). This process is significant since it helps in assessing the technique with respect to already existing techniques and determining its viability in comparison with the existing techniques. Another goal of the evaluation process is to find out how good the technique is. This process is important since it facilitates assessing the technique to determine if it has the desired qualities as intended. Lastly, the process of evaluation of the given technique is aimed at determining â€Å"why the technique is bad†. This is aimed at detecting any weakness existing in the te chnique and this is important since using this weaknesses, suggestions that points out the need for further development can be generated (Farooq & Quadri, 3011). In general, the process of evaluation is aimed enhancing the usability of any given technique. This process of enhancement is aimed at improving user experiences, detecting flaws in the technique, addressing security concerns and removing unwanted features from the technique. The evaluation process as a whole is purported to facilitate technique improvement and enhancement of design supporting aspects. This process is vital since it plays a significant role in the development of the technique. The formative aspect of evaluation is paramount since it aids in the acquisition

Radio - Essay Example which broadcasting is carried out throughout the world and involves the airborne transmission of electromagnetic audio signals in the case of radio and audio and visual signals in case of televisions that can generally be accessed by a wide population through receivers (Biagi 2014, p.131). Broadcasting plays a crucial role in ideology, news values, social and cultural context as well as the political context as most people use them to address and tackle the issues affecting a country. The major reason for the use of broadcasting is its capacity to reach a large number of people or masses in the passing of information as well as entertainment. Broadcasting emerged as a remedy to the traditional or conventional means of sending information that was used previously. Radio developed as an improvement of the telegraph as an instantaneous system of information to address the desire of humans for a mode of communication free from the obstacles of long-distance transportation (Timmons 2005, p.53).   The first system developed by Guglielmo Marconi transmitted information which was picked about 3km away by a receiving device that had no connection to the transmitting device that demonstrated that electronic signals could be cast broadly through space and could be captured by receivers. As already stated, the radio transmits news through sounds also known as audio medium that is played on the radio for the audience. Radio broadcasts may range from as little as a few seconds to lengthy minutes and may include local or international news as well as entertainment that may be incorporated in the program to encourage a flow in the broadcasts. News plays an important role on radio such as contribution of flow and a source of content that may be social or c ultural as well as other contexts. News plays a major role in radio that may be grouped in such criteria as enabling citizenship, helping us know the world around us, facilitating the exchange of ideas and information, revealing

United States of America Vs Sony BMG Research Paper

United States of America Vs Sony BMG - Research Paper Example The Issue This case is about the violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by Sony BMG Music Entertainment in 2008. Sony Corporation of America is a company whose Sony BMG subsidiary represents musical entertainers who are popular even with underage children. COPPA aims at protecting the children’s privacy against misuse of their private information by the online community. The act was passed on 21st April, 2000 and provides legal guidelines for companies or organizations which provide Internet services through websites. This act covers the privacy of children who fall below the age of thirteen years.1 The legal provision of the act to the online service providers is that consent must be obtained from the parents of children under the age of thirteen before collecting personal information about the children. Moreover, the parents have to be informed when an online service provider needs to use or reveal personal information of the children. 2 In 2008, Sony BMG Music Entertainment violated the provision of COPPA by collecting, using and disclosing information of children below thirteen without the permission of their parents. This led to the legal suit against the company by the USA on behalf of the Federal Trade Commission. ... The information collected from the underage children by the company affected more than 30 000 of the young people within its 196 websites. The ethical and legal issue in this case is that the company collected the information with full knowledge that it was obtained from underage children. This demonstrates that the company knowingly violated the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. The legal issue was worsened by the failure of the company to reveal that it intended to keep the information. Additionally, the company did not disclose how the collected information was to be used. Applicable Law The law that was violated by the company is the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The Federal Trade Commission’s implementing rule was also violated by Sony BMG which made the commission to be the Civil Penalty Complainant. The Federal Trade Commission on 5th April, 2010 requested for opinions of the public on the use of private information by the onlin e community in relation to the changes and advancement in technology. This was through the Commission’s publication in the Federal Register.3 The public opinion on the matter was received from members of the public, technologists, advocacy groups, representatives of various industries and academicians. The information obtained from the public was useful in clarifying and defining various terms within the COPPA, such as Child, Website and Private Information. The considerations of the opinions of the public led to the definition of a child as an individual below the age of thirteen. These considerations were based on expert opinion on the ability of a child to make right judgments on the information provided to the online service providers. The assessment of a child’s level of

Evolution Of Human Resource Management In The World Business Essay

Evolution Of Human Resource Management In The World Business Essay Human resource management is defined as the strategic approach to manpower management in an organization and also this is a function of the company which focuses on recruiting the management to provide further information to the employees, how to take the business to the top level. This process is really important to todays businesses, it studied that employees working in teams or individually are the two main contributors which helps to succeed in the business objectives. The managers of the businesses in this generation are responsible in selecting employees, planning the goals of the company, planning how the business can use the resources in effective ways, assigning tasks for the employees, giving information to the employees how a task should be completed by using few resources, giving feedbacks how they can change their behaviors, introducing new technology to improve performance of the employees, taking responsibilities of the entire business and most importantly being a role model to the employees and working hard to give the best services to the customers. Human resource management is the business function that deals with issues related to people such as compensation, hiring performance management, organization development, safety, wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication, administration and training. An effective human resource management focuses on managing the employees effectively and productively to the entire business in order to accomplish the companys goals and objectives. Today the target of human resource management is to recruit the employees by providing development programmes and scholarships rather than depending on traditional personnel and transactional roles which are increasingly outsourced. The features of human resource management include; organizational management, personnel administration, manpower management and industrial management. Human resource management works hard to have a good relationship between traditional management functions and the skilled employees with in the business. Employees are highly treated by having a closer look of their skills and experience. The employees have to get the full knowledge of the particular field and have to be skilled. Moreover, the human resource manager perfectly empowers inter-department employee relationships and nurtures scope to have a great communication in all levels of the business. In this modern world it is a must to have a Human Resource Management Department which relate with legislature of all factors of production. This department is responsible for the development and application of ongoing research on strategic advances while hiring, terminating and training staff and also this department is responsible in various areas of the business like identifying the areas where there are lack of knowledge and inadequate training and to overcome these problems worksh ops and seminars are conducted. Furthermore, recruiting the workforce, developing the relationship between the employees inside the business and development of a uniform organizational culture, identifying what the employees need (necessary resources) and career goals, understanding and relating to employees as individuals, fulfill the strategic approach in order to maintain competitive advantage, motivating and supporting the employees so that they will get courage to do their tasks well (this is achieved by workforce planning and recruitment , employee training, induction and orientation of hired task-force and administration and appraisals). Strategic Human Resource Approach really helps for the progress of the business. It is defined as the linking of human resource with strategic goals and objectives in order to improve business performance and develop organizational culture that maintain innovation, flexibility and competitive advantage. In an organization strategic approach is implemented through recruiting, selecting, training, rewarding the employees and increasing the employees productivity by focusing on business obstacles which happen in the external environment. The target of this approach is to focus on long-term objectives like addressing and solving problems of the business in the long-run of the business and internationally. In this competitive world everything (internal and external) of a business is changing. Modern trends are increasing and this is becoming an important factor for an efficient business. The huge changes of the businesses have also changed human resource management to personnel management and personnel management to manpower planning and the businesses are focusing on strategic approach which helps in the long-run of the business and helps to gain competitive advantage for the business. Moreover, recruitment of staff focused to geocentric from ethnocentric and polycentric which is more efficient because the employees are selected based on their attitudes and skills. These days recruiting is also done by the effective policies like using of headcounters, cross national advertising and E-recruitments. In the early days the employees have to work for long hours and are not well paid. Furthermore, they are not provided with quality requirements and the work place is unhygienic but now ever ything has changed. Under the strict rules and regulations of the government the owners of the businesses are forced to set up a formal mechanism to look into employees wages and welfare and reporting the issues through labor. Moreover, the employees are provided with the latest technologies with all the requirements they need while doing the tasks. In the workplace the employees are provided with modern furniture and the place is designed in an attractive way for the customers and for the employees where the employees can work much comfortably. There have been huge changes between the personnel management and human resource management in many ways like ; the recruitment and the skills of the employees have began to increase workers commitment and loyalty and also motivation helped to have a active social community within the employees, fringe benefits rather than monetary incentives. In addition, with the introduction of performance on pay, employees stock option the Wage and Salary Administration became outsource. The behavioral training to change attitudes and develop basic skills are focused then remaining incomplete to in calculating work proactive, with new techniques such as management by objectives rather than the report-card based performance. Human resource is going through huge transformation in the business approaching and are automating and outsourcing many management functions which will increase new skills in order to fight with the competitors. Moreover, the human resource professionals say that some of the standard nich-such as human resource generalist and benefits specialist will become less common and less important, giving way over to new ones such as human resource financial analyst and when we have a clear look the human resource people who have done amazing tasks like in the process redefining themselves and their profession can be in a top level with rewarding careers than human resource people who have worked in this long time ago. In the past the role of the administrative department was hiring employees, paying employees and dealing with benefits as at that time these were the functions the businesses needed. Moreover, at that time human resource managers role was aligning employees and management functions that were viewed by the business as paperwork. In this generation there are many different roles and responsibilities of the human resource management. The small businesses may take full responsibility for all human resource activities and huge businesses, this act as an internal consultant and all the human resource description are done with the support of strategic business direction. Some of the roles and responsibilities are training and development, recruiting, productivity improvement, managing the salary, employee services and strategic planning. Technology plays an important role in the human resource management. In the past there were only telephones, typewriters and the time clock in order to manage the works of the business and now all the businesses are computerized, managers have to deal with; multimedia, internet, local area networks i.e and human resource works are dependent on the technological lending edge. To identify the skilled workers who have applied to the job, through applicant-tracking system it is easy to find and to save time the employees learning needs are assessed through a computer dialog. Moreover, automatically the employees attendance is recorded in the computers. Technology makes the human resource management works much easy. When we have a broader picture about the future of the human resource management there might be labor supply. Some experts say that there will be a change in the employment relationship, not a demographically driven shortage of workers; but I agree with the author, Losey. He says there will be a real labor shortage requiring improved recruitment and retention strategies as well as better understanding of why employees really leave organization. Moreover, the skills have to be improved; new roles have to be developed like without giving up human resources human core and offering product lines to serve the larger business. For the future of human resource management applying scientific approach is a good way where professionals can make recommendations based on data and evidence rather than on personal preference.

Achiles’ Shield in the Iliad Essay -- Literature Art War Papers

Achiles’ Shield as an Element of Contradistinction in the Iliad The Iliad is an epic of death. It is a tale of conflict, battle, agony, and horrific mutilation. Honor and glory are attained through warfare. The great shield of Achiles stands out in this context because it depicts the glories of an orderly, functioning, productive civilization. This depiction of life stands in stark contrast to the scenes of death that constitute a large portion of the narrative. An examination of the shield of Achiles in Homer’s Iliad reveals many ideas in conflict: love and honor, the pleasures of life versus a heroic death, free will and destiny. By viewing the shield as an element of contradistinction—that is to define it on the basis of contrast—one can see that the shield symbollicaly unifies the entire poem. Achiles’ shield is the mechanism through which the poet presents a tool of warfare as a reflection of civilization; explores the concept, structure, and nature of the universe; and examines the role of art in society. I. A Reflection of Civlization on a Tool of Warfare In the epic tradtion, the arming of wariors for batle holds particular significance. The description of a warior’s armor tels much about the individual character of the warior and about the values of the society of which he is part. The Iliad contains many such arming scenes which take the simple description of armor and transform it into a more expansive and iluminating portrait of ancient Greek mentality. When compared with one another, these descriptions of armor reveal some basic distinctions that make the shield of Achiles of utmost importance. As noted by Atchity in Homer’s Iliad: The Shield of Memory, the armor of Paris is described in book thre... ...contradictions. Art is the medium through which humans explore life’s great questions and test its boundaries. Armed with the belief that ordered civlization will prevail, the artist—poet, metalworker, painter, actor—is free to enter into the batlle of ideals. Works Cited Atchity, Kenneth John. Lord of the Flies: Human Nature Essay

In the novel, Lord of the Flies, Golding has young and innocent children on a remote island to test how human nature works. Golding uses objects such as the conch and the Beast to reflect our society politically and psychologically. The novel shows human’s own illness and human nature. Human nature is unavoidable and can be a source of evil. It is one’s nature to do whatever it takes in order to survive. By trying to survive one’s evil creeps out. Jack and his hunters showed the most evil. The first pig being killed was the first sign of evil. They celebrated the killings and became blood thirsty for hunting. It was human nature for the hunters and the little boys to follow Jack and to try to survive on the island. Evil is an inborn trait that lives inside every one. It is our parents’ job to teach good morals and values when we are young, but evil can not be fully covered up. The children enjoyed the freedom away from rules and adults. As time passes on the island their freedom soon turns into a nightmare and in the end some died. Civilization is not so far from savagery and everyone has some kind of evil lurking about. Even the little innocent British boys have a certain amount of evil in themselves. The kids are used to rules, but they soon realize that rules do not matter anymore. They can not be punished for throwing rocks or pushing a boulder and killing someone. Roger can not get into trouble by adults anymore, so his human nature kicks in and he reveals his evilness. He was able to kill without getting into trouble. The Beast is messing with the kids’ minds and they become crazed little boys. The fear makes them turn into savages and kill to survive. The Beast is like a phobia for the littluns. Beast from the Air arrives and stirs up some more trouble. It confuses them because they realize there are more things to be cautious of. The conch was supposed to be good, but the power of it changes the kids. Jack and Ralph fight about who has the conch and who is the leader. It is human nature for Jack to desire the conch and what is not his. Human nature has a big role in Lord of the Flies and many of the kids can not handle it. Once human nature was revealed many turned into little killers. It was human nature to try to survive and many did live at the end, but at the cost of lives.

The Composition and Properties of Glass

The Composition and Properties of Glass When you hear the term glass you may think of window glass or a drinking glass. However, there are many other types of glass. Glass is the name given to any amorphous (non-crystalline) solid that displays a glass transition near its melting point. This is related to the glass transition temperature, which is the temperature where an amorphous solid becomes soft near its melting point or a liquid becomes brittle near its freezing point. Glass is a type of matter. Sometimes the term glass is restricted to inorganic compounds, but more often now a glass may be an organic polymer or plastic or even an aqueous solution. Silicon Dioxide and Glass The glass you encounter most often is silicate glass, which consists mainly of silica or silicon dioxide, SiO2. This is the type of glass you find in windows and drinking glasses. The crystalline form of this mineral is quartz. When the solid material is non-crystalline, it is a glass. You can make glass by melting silica-based sand. Natural forms of silicate glass also exist. Impurities or additional elements and compounds added to the silicate change the color and other properties of the glass. Glass Examples Several types of glass occur in nature: Obsidian (volcanic silicate glass)Fulgurites (sand that has been vitrified by a lightning strike)Moldavite (green natural glass likely resulting from meteorite impacts) Man-made glass includes: Borosilicate glass (e.g., Pyrex, Kimax)IsinglassSoda-lime glassTrinitite (radioactive glass formed by heating of the desert floor by the Trinity nuclear test)Fused quartzFluoro-aluminateTellurium dioxidePolystyreneRubber for tiresPolyvinyl acetate (PVA)PolypropylenePolycarbonateSome aqueous solutionsAmorphous metals and alloys

Theoretical perspective in a research preparation of qualitative research forms a grounded platform for final data and research work to be informatively produced. Theoretical aspect would involve making relevant assumptions for the research plan and ensuring that appropriate data gathering is done to help in production of the research work. Qualitative researchers are alarmed with making sure they incarcerate perspectives accurately. Some researchers who use film show the completed tapes to the contestants in order to check their own understanding with those of the informants. Theoretical lens symbolize one of the major decision a qualitative research requires in other top produce a good work. Theoretical perspective would guide in research plan, quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods app roaches. Variables may be regarded as an attribute at we wish to examine. A causal modelportraying the causal or logical bridges between program activities and predictable outputs, outcomes and affect the research proposal would provide a visual observation of the qualitative proposal. The system of concepts, beliefs, assumptions, and theories supports and informs research work. It expains the key things to be studies and the supposed relationships among them. The variable for the qualitative suggestion would include research relationship, site assortment and sampling decisions, data gathering methods and validity. Further, the model would encompass discipline-based journalism theory, prior studies that address the topic or closely related cases, rainbow questions that bridges the independent and dependent variable, and finally script out the theory sections. Empirical theory requires a reciprocal relationship between theory and data. Data have to generate propositions in a dialectical approach that allows use of priori theoretical framework, however set up priority not to overburden a framework. An example of a journal article that portrays this is the study of Padilla, Pavel and Murguia in 1991; about the integration of twenty four Native American and Hispanic students social system of a campus life style. The students were curious about the ethnicity influence in social integration, and they started by associating the participants encounters to a theoretical model known as the Tinto model of social integration. This is an article with priori theoretical framework and qualitative research approach. The theory emerges at the end of study and presented as logic diagram with a visual representation of associations among concepts. The descripttive aspect is represented when the students backgrounds are brought in picture. A mixed method research theory uses a theoretical perspective or lens to guide the research study. Procedures involve in using a theoretical perspective to study ethnicity, gender, race, disability, sexual orientation and ot6her diversities. The article that portrays this was Caracelli andGreene in 1997 who mentioned a transformative design as a kind of mixed methods research. In 2003, Plano Clark, Creswell, Hanson and Gutmann identified use of theoretical lens such as feminist perspectives, gendered; ethnic, racial, cultural perspectives, lifestyle perspectives. In Addition, Mertens advocates for the essential of a theoretical perspective in mixed methods according to Box7.1. She emphasized the purpose that values play is analyzing ethnic/racial, feminist and disability cases. She identified the implication of transformative theories according to mixed methods research. Involving all the transformative methodology into the entire phases of research process has been applied by recent researchers to entice their work. Conclusion The mixed methods approaches plus qualitative and quantitative are the methodologies used by researchers to produce good work. The processes are very effective when they are used accordingly and purposefully for a particular research work. Buy custom Research Design essay

History of Western Tradition Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

History of Western Tradition - Essay Example The Renaissance and the Protestant Reformation are a unified, interconnected whole since the former brought about a new exchange of knowledge and ideas, and with the invention of the printing press enabling the dissemination of these knowledge, individuals start to challenge their devotion and belief to the Catholic Church finally resulting in the Protestant Reformation. The Renaissance and Protestant Reformation brought about numerous changes which marked the way people view various features of modern life. The revival of religion, architecture, and art encouraged the most important developments in the world. The Renaissance ignited developments in architecture and arts. Individuals learned the concept of individualism; they demanded to gain personal recognition of their own actions rather than gaining credit for their dedication to God. Numerous architectural styles were created during the Renaissance period. The Renaissance created questions concerning the way to salvation by intr oducing new insights, specifically the importance placed on individualism, which was a belief that individuals have the capability of differentiating right from wrong, and deciding whether to act morally or immorally. The Catholic Church, passionately promoted the knowledge that salvation can only be attained through the Church, but when Martin Luther read the passage in the bible declaring ‘just shall live by his faith’1 to imply that genuine belief or faith is the only way to salvation he started to question the all-powerful foundation of the church. In one of Luther’s table talk, against Catholicism in 1535, he stated one of his major disputations: The chief cause that I fell out with the pope was this: the pope boasted that he was the head of the Church, and condemned all that would not be under his power and authority; for he said, although Christ be the head of the Church, yet, notwithstanding, there must be a corporal head of the Church upon earth. With th is I could have been content, had he but taught the gospel pure and clear, and not introduced human inventions and lies in its stead.2 The Christian cleric Luther was very troubled over the existence of indulgences, or the religious practice of giving money to the church, hence he created his book of disputes referred to as the ‘Ninety-Five Theses’.3 This document is an effort to explain and elaborate on the issue. Yet, because of the invention of the printing press during the Renaissance period, the document of Luther became a general text and was quite interesting to thinkers and philosophers who also oppose the religious institution. The Renaissance also contributed greatly to the Protestant Reformation when Luther attributed his interpretation of the Bible to his personal perspective of religion, thus he persevered to translate the Bible into the German language in order for more people to understand it. Yet again, the Renaissance printing press helped in the dissem ination of the translated Bible, and also in the circulation of guides that persuaded many to follow the teachings of Luther and Protestantism. The Renaissance basically was a period where new knowledge was recognized, and was still accepted after it ended. This acceptance of knowledge enabled the principles of Luther to cope, alongside a large number of Protestant branches to emerge. A French intellectual, John Calvin, abided by the teachings of Luther but instead of giving emphasis on salvation he persuaded the population to acknowledge the justice,

Slope = y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 (6 - 18)/ (35 -20) (-12)/(15) = -4/5 D. Write a sentence that explains the meaning of the slope. The negative sign in the slope shows a negative relationship between age and number of hours TV watched. The figure shows that as a person age by four years he gives up five hours of TV watched. E. Find the equation of the line that represents the number of hours of television watched. Show all work to receive full credit. y = mx + b For b. 6 = (-4/5) (35) + b 6 = -28 + b B = 34 Thus, the equation is: y = -4/5x + 34 4. The equationrepresents the total cost to run Johnny's Pizza place for a day. C symbolizes the total cost to open the pizza place, and x stands for the number of pizzas sold. A. Find the y-intercept of this graph and explain what it means in the context of the problem. Show all work to receive full credit. y intercept = value of y when x = 0 Thus, C = 2.50 x + 300 Substitute x with 0, C = 2.50 (0) + 300 C = 300. In the context of the problem, the y intercept shows the costs that Johnny's Pizza place will incur if it produces no pizza. Economically speaking, this refers to the fixed costs which the company has to incur even if it doesn't operate. B. Explain the slope of the line. The slope of the line is 2.50. This is the variable cost of producing a unit of pizza. It means that a pizza produced will add an additional 2.50 to the total costs. C. Graph the equation. 5. The director of a summer day camp estimates that 100 children will join if the camp fee is $250, but for each...However, the three in consideration even shrink from 21feet to 16 inches from years 20 to 25. In this year, the tree can be considered old and more brittle thus, becoming more easily destroyed by natural calamities like typhoon. The graph shows the relationship between the age of an individual and the number of hours the individual spends watching television. It can be seen that the survey or study covers an age group of 15 to 35 years old as plotted in the x ayis. The y axis shows the number of hours of TV watched which ranges from 0 to 25 hours. In the context of the problem, the y intercept shows the costs that Johnny's Pizza place will incur if it produces no pizza.
